Yes. I think you're supposed to bend your knee, look over your shoulder and pout your lips. :Very Happy

is it for cash in hand or swap day off.

If swap day off you need to let line manager know.

Be open about it and leave it to the DOM... In my office, the only times I have seen them have a moan is when it becomes too frequent and when they are struggling to get people to OT...

I do not understand why you want to go against the DOM's decision. It is not worth it in my opinion. Are there no opportunities for overtime in your office?

What if you and your cash-in-hand buddy fell out over the money?

The cash-in-hand is there to help colleagues that cannot get day's off or feeling unwell and are on Stages... But, I have seen it abused ...

Why cant you have the other person appeal to the better nature (if any) of the DOM?

There is the personal cover register,it's part of P&M...
http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 7&p=214535" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
8. A Personal Cover Register will be established to facilitate individuals making their own arrangements if they wish to cover for each other. This cover could be for part of or the complete shift/daily attendance. Individuals will again be required to provide at least 24 hours notice in advance, confirm they have the skills necessary and that there will be no additional cost to the business (a template for the Personal Cover Register for use is attached at Annex C).

Annex C is in the 2nd link,in this link...

Cash in hand is slightly different,some managers don't allow it.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
