Special leave?

My brother is getting married at the end of the year so i asked for the day off. Was told it's fully booked so cant have it off.

Does this count as a special exemption or just a social event? i still have 10 days A/L to book. Im a full time reserve if it makes any difference.

It doesn't make any difference, tell them it is a unique social event and that you have given more than adequate notice.

Royal Mail is not a prison (honestly its not).

If you can afford an unpaid special leave day there is little they can do about it. Provide notice, tell them you are going.

I would advise against going sick but can fully understand that being a valid answer to such an uncaring, thoughtless and compassionless company.
