been told mail is down 4% on last year//
How many letters less each day does this equate to on each delivery /anyone know?

Say I average 2 trays mech
Then collect up

So 600 items a day?

4% of that

24 items

Ooh add d2d in

That's about 4264 items extra

So mails up :Very Happy

No.

Because each delivery has a different mail profile, number of delivery points and span.

Its also a spurious point from Royal Mail in my opinion, it doesn't matter if you have 1 letter for an address or 20, you still have to go there. What they should concentrate on is call and attendance rates, and I bet they have either climbed or are static.

Indeed, 4% down on mail means doing the walk 0.1% quicker in reality. but then add in extra d2d's and packets in takes longer.

what about delivery points growth.....? Mine up from 434 to 512 since 1997......mail might be down but we go to much more delivery points !!!

They think the mail is down because idiots are now coming in EXTRA early to get out and get done so then they come back EXTRA earlier and DOM thinks "Oh it must be light today their back earlier than usual" get grip guys.

Parcels are down since the price increase, look out for the inevitable briefing in a few months.

An old boy once told me, it doesn't matter how much mail you actually have, if you have 500 letters and you deliver 1 to each house you're busy, if you deliver 4 to 125 houses you're not, mail volumes on delivery are kind of irrelevant, it's how many houses you deliver to that matter.
