2 hours strike

Post by dean41 »

What does anyone think of the 2 hours strike at the end of your shift? Sounds good to me. Imagine all that mail being left in every day!

It sounds great to me mate. I'm just bothered about all the early birds tear arseing around to get it all done like the nuggets they are. We've got a few of those in our office.

2 hour strike

WE didn`t need a strike in our office at all.A work to rule would have brought it to a standstill in a couple of days

I think Dean was suggesting just dropping our bags, when the strike starts at 12 noon Thursday, rather than completing our rounds

Its something the union is seeing if there is enough support for in reaction to the later duty times. At present its just talking not actual IA.

Conflicting information.
The union are advising, from a legal standpoint(your contract)that you should adhere to the new start times.
this means you must wait for the final missorts(possibly around 10.00am!)before commencing delivery.
if you then say i'm only prepared to work till 12.00 or 1.00 it would be seen as failure to complete, and as
in breach of contract.
this is the scenario Royal mail want so as to conduct any 'troublemakers'
so the unions advice is to put in an individual grieviance, will this mean they will take up every case individually and on
it's merits?

The problem with that, is that it will have little effect at the RDCs, as we have overlapping shifts, and a number of SA contracts before, and just after the start of each one. I know that we are in a minority, but we want to contribute to the cause. Surely there is a better way?

i agree with IWW in my office the guys (must towns )finish early at the moment cant see them being happy with losing 1 or 2 hrs a day pay and still going home the same as they are now

i think we should stick the IA on the front of the duty so it will be easier to monitor and organise and would hit RM harder than at the end where as far as my office is concerned the majority of deliveries will absorb the work (GRRR)
