hi all was just wondering if anyone can help me i phoned in tuesday my 3year old son was sick said i neeeded day off phoned in wednesday ineeded another day off next day returned to work as normal my manager now informed me he will give me special leave for tuesday but no pay for wednesday can he do this and who can i complain to

Time off for dependents is a statutory right but it is always unpaid.
Special leave,which is different is at the manager's discretion as is the decision to give it as paid leave or unpaid.
It is normal practice in these situations to pay the first day but not any subsequent days.
What he should have done was inform you of this and offer you the option of using annual leave.

urgent domestic distress is usually 1 day with pay and 2 without or use leave, unless in exceptional circumstances, when 3 days can be paid special leave.

Less tax now and slightly more tax credits next year. So you only end up losing about half a days pay in the long run.
