signing for walks

How is it possible that a walk that has always been classed as full time, suddenly be altered to part time status so that as a full timer I won`t be able to sign for it?, I`ve been taking it for 15 months ever since the guy that was signed to it got suspended and I have built up a rapport with my customers , the walk is exactly the same size as any in the office 3.30 to 4 hrs long, our union rep is part time and seems to only help causes that further this own agenda, i`ve never been told that i can`t sign for a walk because i`m too senior before, I`m fed up!.

When we had our revision, certain walks were allocated as f/t and some as p/t,I questioned this at the time and was told that the managers had decided on this way so they could work the ip sorting out,as their were only about 10 p/t staff they didn't have much say in it,so now we have some walks with 2 f/t staff on,they are usually the first out just after 0800,then we have walks with 1 f/t and 1 p/t where the f/t is supposed to double prep but in reality only chucks the sqecenced mail in for the p/t who the has to chuck all the rest in,do his d2d's and an average of 2 rough bags all in 40 mins (including loading the van),then a quick break then out the door.The situation arises now on a Saturday that a p/t the minute he gets in can e called up for ip sorting to help everybody get out early,needless to say that causes a lot of moaning,the whole situation is a farce,the sooner this shambles gets privatized the better if only to get rid of the incompetent managers.

Each office seems different in the way it`s staff are put upon, I have to do ips until it`s complete, then throw out a whole walk for someone minus the packets, door 2 door and redirections, then I go onto my own, throw the whole of that in, prep door 2 door, on Mondays and Tuesdays we flex and we have to take all door to door on someone else's walk as well, I don`t leave the office until 10 am or later most days!.
