Delivery stress at 5 months pregnant

The doctor had signed me off this week due to pains in my hips and back. Yes common in pregnancy but what hasn't helped is pulling two heavy bags up hills for 4 1/2 + hours. Ive tried just to get on with it as it's to stressful to deal with the DOM and his attitude. A few times i have not been able to complete my duty and he can't understand what my problem is, its like walking on egg shells around him. I have to go via my rep if i can't finish my walk. This is causing me so much upset i can't continue on like this. I am due back at work next week I feel sick thinking about going back the guys all think i should be off this duty by now but manager thinks it is to soon.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the link. Had my risk assesment done at 3 months but there was something in it about being on your feet for long periods of time however DOM said i am not on my feet as i am walking you couldnt make it up...

Not that it's needed, but proof that DOM's really are f*****g thick.

Someone I know requested adjustments to her workload whilst pregnant, and her boss refused repeatedly. When she pushed for lighter duties, the boss's only concern was how making her working day easier would negatively affect his budget. In the end she just went sick, and followed it with maternity leave, so he had no choice but to cover all her work. Stupid and uncaring. If it had been the managers wife it would have been a different story.

If you can't stand up for yourself and your unborn kid, get the area rep to do it for you. That is important. You suppose to be on light duty. Royal Mail should have 2 duty for pregnant ladies which is suitable for them in every office (depending on size)

In the late 90's I was expecting my now 15 yr old, while in delivery work, I drove , but after 3 months I stayed indoors .

Your manager should do this as in duty of care. as in the late 90's Royal mail was taken to court as a dom had the same attitude as yours and the lady lost the baby .

Risk assessment should be done , also at the time I has SA twice a week and these still had to be paid to me right up and till I went on maternity leave, even though I did not have to peform them .

contact CWU headquaters as they have a folder on your rights at work while expecting or they did when I was in your posistion back then.

Contact Atos and maybe B/H line your soon have your dom

woops dunno what i did there but im defo female or something strange is going on.I know its seems i cant stick up for myself but im having daily battles with them and im getting to stressed over it so im having the rep deal with it.It was maybe different a few years ago when a lot of duties where fairly easy i could proberly stand another month on the walks but we do double the workload now and im starting to find it difficult.Management cant get that.They really are different.

I am a manager and dealt with a lot of maternitys . My advice is to ask for an autos referral ASAP , discuss with atos your concerns and they should give your Dom a report which I believe will make him re assess you . Ask for a copy of the report . If you physically can't do the work you are doing at present then take your rep and tell the Dom . I am sorry to hear you are being treat like this , I tend to wrap my maternitys up in cotton wool after personal experiences in my family. trust me there is nothing any Dom can do to you there is legislation and a maternity policy within RM that protects you and your child. All the best .

Also contacted Linda Roy on Facebook - she is the Top Woman in our Union and she says if you contact the Equality Department at HQ they WILL advise.

I would contact them, I have met her personally and her and her department are one of the gems in the Union.

Gosh I can't believe they're allowing you to go out delivering at 5 months pregnant! It's hard enough as it is with those heavy pouches when you're not pregnant, you should be taking it easy.
