Asked to train somebody

Hi guys,been asked to train somebody on my duty for cover. Do I have to agree to this? I thought we had work based coaches or whatever they are called who get paid extra for this,or am I wrong. Don't really know if I should agree or not. Anybody else been put in a position like this? Thank you in advance

I trained someone to do my round and was paid an extra allowance. Its not a lot but it's better than nothing

Yep ask for it, if they say no then refuse to train as its not your job and can't be forced on you.

Workplace coaches get about 30 Quid a week

£30 and it's in the National Agreement Induction Training with Coaching 2006.

Our "training officer" is also CWU rep , PHG and Bike mechanic oh and DOMS best mate . Needless to say he doesnt train anybody anymore , just gets everyone else to!!!

Easy way to solve that.
If asked to train,ask for the ad-hoc training allowance (£6/day).
If you don't get it no training.
If you do get it at some point some bean counter will spot that your office is paying a WPC and an ad-hoc training allowance and awkward questions will be asked at conference calls.

I had to 'train' someone after been in the job 2 months didnt get a penny, the work place 'coach' at our place is a lazy over weight 'women', this company really needs to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Properly trained and professional managers along with a motivated and valued work force would cure most of RM ills.
