PDA's left in vehicle

Just wondering if you have to keep PDA's from hidden view when away from the van and not being used or can they be kept in the cradle?

anything like that on show looks tasty to a thief so dont risk a brick through the window, look after your job!

I was taught many years ago no cradle no PDA its there for purpose SSOW if it gets nicked not your problem .Always lock vehicle theives will be more interested with whats in back what use is a PDA to any body other than postpersons.

My PDA will die after around 30 mins of not getting charged, and some of my loops are that big on their own, and no way will it charge enough on the 2 minute drive to my next stopping point.

I know, we all do the same, but the official line is, it should be out of sight when you are away from the van.

If that's the case then the cradle should be out of sight. If they're not left in the cradles the batteries drain and die really quickly. As far as I'm concerned, the cradle is where it belongs, and it's RM's fault if they cant arrange a more appropriate place for the cradle to be.

I get what you're saying though, if it goes missing they won't hesitate to lay the blame on us.

i think i'm hard done by as all my loops get recorded ,tracked or specials everyday so no chance to leave it in van unattended

Same here, the PDA always has to go with me

To be honest if a full charge doesn't easily last 4-5 hours without sticking it back in the cradle the battery needs replacing.
It's not good for the battery to keep charging it in dribs and drabs like that.

Have you tried to get a battery?? You'd think the managers had to personally give birth to them the way they resist giving them out

True. But as the PDA's spend the vast majority of their time in one cradle or another, the batteries are destroyed in a very short space of time.
