Big rumpus last week when a dozen or so posties complained of incorrect O/T claims. Linos were fiddling the sheets again.
The new DIM has decreed that posties pass their O/T claims straight to booking room (run by two posties) to ensure correct payment.
I`ve booked 2 hours excess this week to celebrate .

Excellent as long as you worked those 2 hour,and I have no reason to think you didn't. However, as sure as eggs are eggs they will be patrolling to make sure, apparently one of our guys was caught out claiming docket within duty time - not seen him since.

Last 2 days have been massive. O/T deffo needed. Its just nice to get on with the job without being interrogated just because I might go over a bit.

Happy to work it - no probs for me if I go over - as long as I get paid - and I like to think I do all right because I've never ever been screwed over re docket ...

This problem has been going on for ages. Either the postie says nothing and loses the overtime, or postie complains, the lino says he forgot, and the overtime might be paid. No linos punished as far as I know.

I know a guy who O/T has been 'forgotten' since Xmas. Up until 3 weeks ago he was owed 3 hrs. So, it is either a boss trying it on, or the alternative is that the manager is useless. But that can't be the case surely.....

Are you sure about that Coxie. I would have thought that any business has the right to question the validity of any overtime claim. What is wrong with Royal Mail is that docket is not paid or adjusted by management without discussing with the employee the reason why it has not been paid or adjusted. I do not know whether this is illegal but it is certainly a sad indictment of a company that has absolutely no respect for people who work extremely hard to make sure that all the post is delivered, against the backdrop of a management that is sadly driving the business in an unworkable direction.

It's being going on for years. For it to be illegal it would need to be a binding document, I'm not sure docket sheets (which are no longer in use ), would count. If the amount of O/T is agreed between manager and postie, then that is what should be paid. But if it isn't agreed, and a P552 hasn't been signed off by the boss, then I would find it hard to prove it was agreed, as he/she could claim O/T wasn't asked for/authorised.

I think it is issues like this that is resulting in more posties refusing to go past their time.

Coxie - on what grounds is it illegal? (So we can use it against bosses).

I know it is illegal to dock your pay without approval. For example, if they overpay for whatever reason, they cannot just take the money back. (Though there have been instances when they have). They are supposed to sit down and discuss it with you, and come to an agreement/repayment plan. (50p a week )

All the linos are at it.
They are under pressure from DSM's about O/T levels weekly and so im sure they do not pay everyone owed and also
amounts are 'adjusted' to keep DSM'S off their backs.
