WORKING ALONE IN THE CALLERS OFFICE

How on earth are you supposed to work in the callers office on your own. Even your basic needs require you to leave the office, even for a short time. All other staff out on delivery or on meal breaks. Surly this is not right, even on health safety grounds. DIM says other staff come and go during the day, but this could mean 15 to 20 minuets alone.... NOT HAPPY.

Oh the joys of working in the callers office, stress.... frustration.... aurguments.....lost items.... phone callers...funny and abusive.....lost items... damaged items.... problem sorting

I just said i will not be a minute, and just went to the toilet if needed.... yes i was on my own ... sometimes in the afternoon on my own in the whole building for an hour or more...... if you are on your own.... you call the shots...

Life in the callers everyone should have a turn ..... serving the public is always an eyeopener..... beyond belief at times.

Ask your manager for a lone workers risk assessment for the callers office. It's needed if you work in there on your own. They are failing in their duty of care if there is nothing in place for you if you need assistance in there on your own.

Wait until the queue is massive then go round the corner and just take a seat

Have 5 minutes.

Makes you feel a lot better

1.Access to tea and coffee,whenever you want.
2.Nice and warm.
3.Chairs(feet up)
4.Peace,well once everyone on delivery.
5.Crawl up doms arse.
6.Plenty of time to update status on facebook.

You get the picture....seems to me its a win win situation.Callers staff live longer than postmen.

1. banned in ours
2. when the heating/cooling works
3. grand total of 1 at computer desk to log in
4. with customers coming in at a rate of 2 to 4 a minute
5. not if you have integrity or sense to realise that not everyone who works inside is an arse licker.
6. which is against the conduct code, and barred on site anyway. We can't even get the internet on our smart phones, never mind facebook, twitter or RMC.

I've worked in there not as cushy as people think , if you think it is sign for it, I give you 2 weeks before you want to get out ha ha.

I used to do it and its not cushy - have you been in there. Does anyone really think I am up the DOMs arse and I am not a rep either. Also why can't people take others at face value, saying derogatory things about people you don't know personally, just because of the job they do is morally questionable at the very least. Only a decades ago it was ok to to say the same about racial groups and now its not, lets hope we get to a point when saying it about someone because of their occupation is also held in contempt.

People are individuals some are scum and some are saints. They are who they are because of their personal makeup, not because of the job that they do.

Im speaking from personal experience mate , not having a dig at you. In 12 years at RM EVERY person whos had the callers job hads been CWU rep at the same time and thers only been 3 dif ones
