My contract ran out on the 30th March.I have been told by my line manager that it has been approved for renewal. What is my legal position of working without being in receipt of my new contract? Also what is the legal position of driving a company vehicle whilst waiting for the receipt of a new contract?

Working longer than the contract’s end date

If an employee continues working past the end of a contract without it being formally renewed, there’s an ‘implied agreement’ by the employer that the end date has changed.

The employer still needs to be give proper notice if they want to dismiss the worker.

My first three month contract was renewed just two months into it. I reminded the DOM that the second period was about to run out and he said he'd just done, but I finally got the contract about 5 days after it had started - so hopefully you'll get yours any day soon. Its probably lost in the post!

Think it's more likely that whoever is responsible for the renewal to be approved, and/or to send it out, is useless. RM always takes forever to do the simplest thing.

Yes, but in their haste they often make mistakes, to the benefit of us. Which is always funny.
