Can anyone point me in the direction of a doc to print out to show my manager concerning this please?
I've seen one on here before, but can't find it!

All periods of service on a temporary or permanent contract (with periods of casual service included only if they run continuously into a temporary or permanent contract), except for those on unpaid leave, SPPR, or with HM Forces exceeding 15 days, will count towards calculating leave due. Previous periods of PO service may be counted for this purpose.

It is in The Way Forward Agreement (available in Downloads) - section 4 covering Annual Leave.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

It's in the Way Forward agreement. I've just had my holiday entitlement bumped up to 6 weeks (19 years service then a 5 year gap - been back at RM for 3 years now) and got all the money back that I'd been paying to buy extra holiday. Had to prove that I'd worked for RM though. Apparently HR only keep records for 7 years! Got my DOM to send my proof to Purchase of Annual Leave in Sheffield and it was sorted out within a week (even if I did do all the donkey work for him). Even the local union hadn't heard about this part of the agreement (quel surprise).
4 or 5 others in the office are now going through the process and have had their leave entitlement adjusted, although they are still "discussing" compensation for lost holidays. Needless to say the DOM isn't too happy - anyone would think it came out of his pocket.
Would suggest contacting HR in the first instance to see if they've still got your records.

Surely HR should keep the records especially if you've paid into the pension fund previously? I might ring them tomorrow and find out exactly how much time I've done with my previous service.

Pension records are held separately in Chesterfield. Maybe HR had just managed to mislay my records but even old pay numbers didn't help. The Archive section had no record either - I had to send in copies of original contract, leaving letter etc. Luckily I'm a bit sad and I keep things like that. Pension statements have dates of service on them.

I think I threw everything away :d'oh! hoping I may have an old payslip somewhere from the days we used to get paid by giro.

So what this opening post is saying is.... if you work for royal mail.... leave th company etc and come back then you can put your combined service over your two employments even though you left to get a new job or whatever and it classes as extra holiday entitlement? strange

It's probably a hangover from when the Post Office/Royal Mail was a government department and Postal Workers were Civil Servants. Even in the forces they have a similar system, I suppose RM management see it as a minor point and that's why they have never come for it.

Phoned HR and they are going to try and find my previous records in the archives. Surprised how helpful they were.

It's in the way forward agreement, in the annual leave part, I left after 15 years came back after 7 years and have now done another 3 so 18 years for the purpose of leave entitlement, and why not, I have given the service, it's not much really but is one of the good parts of the way forward.

If they did that, it would make them a senior staff member wouldn't it? The ones you want rid of. Make up your mind.
