Royal Mail Pay - April 2013
Royal Mail Pay - April 2013
The purpose of this LTB is to advise CWU Branches, Representatives and members on the current situation with Pay.
The Union is determined to achieve a straightforward above inflation pay rise for at least 2 years commencing April 1st 2013. As part of this we are also seeking an opportunity for our members to share in the company's ongoing profits as a replacement for ColleagueShare, alongside new productivity arrangements.
Initially, the company had agreed that we would resolve pay before the April due date. However, the situation has now become more difficult because of wider industrial relations problems. The current situation is that the company are insisting that pay is linked to a resolution to outstanding Business Transformation issues and clarity on their future plans.
The Postal Executive will be considering this matter when they meet next Tuesday. Further information will follow and the issue of pay will also be included in a planned membership communication that will arrive soon.
Please ensure that the content of this LTB is communicated in your to all workplaces.
Any enquiries on the above LTB should be addressed to the DGS (P) Department.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

Re: Royal Mail Pay - April 2013
What would you want the union to do ballot the membership as we are 3 days over due ? We have load of issues I would place pay about half way down the list of priorities. With whether you have the same terms and conditions from a new buyer over above the tupe norm , your pension under attack and about 50 other workplace issues ranging from bullying to Royal Mail's desire to intrude indivdual performance standards .spoodoo wrote:Not good enough!

Re: Royal Mail Pay - April 2013
It says a lot about Royal Mail's intention to address bullying & harassment that they would like to increase the use of Individual Performance Standards.
Is the stick they have already not big enough?

Re: Royal Mail Pay - April 2013
The problem is that a lot of offices even when there is a national agreement don't keep to it in the first place. That's not an attack on anyone but is a fact as how many offices have introduced revision based on 100bsi and not introduced any benefits in attendances etc . So it works both ways ! The CWU as a whole from CWU HQs to the indivdual on delivery who comes in earlier all need to change or to the office who don't support the rep , or the rep who doesn't consult the membership or to the area rep who does not support the local rep .
Now fish I think it indicates that Royal Mail cannot introduce revisions which can work based on BSi figures without then having indivdual performance standards. This is totally unacceptable and needs to be stopped.

I did always wonder what the end game would be if an office targeted performance at a certain level and then failed to meet it.dingo wrote:Now fish I think it indicates that Royal Mail cannot introduce revisions which can work based on BSi figures without then having indivdual performance standards. It makes it pretty obvious what management have been feeding up the chain as the reason for failing revisions...poor performance.
At least the charade of motivation, incentivisation and World Class Mail bollocks has finally ceased and we get to the real plan, beat the members over the head with the stick.

Re: Royal Mail Pay - April 2013
Well couched in all that is again a productivity linked increase to which I say NO. We have had enough of the jam tomorrow culture with RM and as for a negotiation to replace the Colleague Share Scheme - simple! promise payment and then pay F*ck All - there we are, negotiation done. The fact of the matter is RM have been bamboozling the CWU for years and it seems it is finally realising it...........too late of course but there you are. I mean didn't you just know there would be a snag just before the pay rise was due. RM will offer FA and keep doing so until, oh I don't know lets say October, then increase the offer by 0.2% with a lump sum backdated until 1 Apr and BINGO another triumph.
