Newbie question "cutting off"

Hi all,

As title suggests, I've recently joined RM. However, I don't think my initial training was all too great to be honest. Could someone explain what cut off/cutting off is? I've been going in slightly earlier than my start time because of the workload and basically nobody has told me what happens when I suspect I can't post all the mail by my finish time?

Cut off means, cut off / stop delivering and make your way back to the office, because you've run out of time.

PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT
Where an employee feels that on completion of preparation he/she may experience difficulty in completing his/her delivery within the authorised time allotted, he/she should approach his/her manager as soon as possible before setting out on delivery. It will be for the manager to discuss any problem and advise the employee what particular action should be taken.

AFTER COMMENCEMENT OF DELIVERY
If an individual is prevented from completing their delivery for any reason, it is essential that this is reported immediately either by returning to the office or by telephone (telephone costs will be refunded). A written record will be kept. All employees should be informed of the local authorised arrangements, in writing, preferably in plastic card form if available.

Any members experiencing problems with Cutting Off should contact their local representative or their local Branch for assistance.

I just felt under pressure, so decided to go in a little earlier as I assumed I was just a little slow at the job because I was new to it. I feel more confident knowing that I'm not obliged to go over my hours to get the mail posted and that it is ultimately my managers decision what happens.

just be aware that if you tell them that you intend to cut off,they will try to pressure you into workinng over your time and basically crap on you every chance they get.
