appeal process

looking for a union rep to give me some information i was recently verbally and physically threatened in my office to the extent i had to use self defense to protect myself from being hurt this was only minimal i just pushed him away ,went to my manager looking for help and instead found myself on a conduct charge for threatening a colleague
just had my result and thankfully kept job but given 2 year serious warning on record this seems uncalled for as i was the victim and have a number of witness statements to confirm this even the manager when giving me his verdict said it was out of my control and my actions were because i felt threatened.
i think because the office has had some issues n past im being used as an example as this was as good as said in letter.
my question is if i appeal this verdict what do you think my chances are of clearing my record and can royal mail go back on there decision and give a different outcome like sacking me if i lose

you normally have to put in an appeal to a conduct within 3 days by letter.However if you appeal things cannot get worse for you only better but i would not count on it get revoked.
Just be careful that you are not accused or stiched up again for the same offence as then you could get sacked next time

I had the same sort of thing a few years ago.

a fellow postie called me " a Lazy f***ing W****r " after he thought a special of his was one of mine, I told him it was'nt and replied with " **** you c***, do you want to step outside and sort this out " he said " yes " and went to walk out of the door, and he got even more angry when I just laughed at him as he walked out.

the DIM came over and asked me to walk away, which I did, but I got a two year warning for threatening behavior after the investigation was done ( although the DIM did agree with me about him being a **** ).

what you should have done according to RM is walk away and let your DIM know straight away, but we all know that can't always happen.

take the two year warning, keep your nose clean and get on with life :)

your union rep should have got the area rep involved, especially if your had witnesses

The area rep was with me not sure about other guy as still ongoing

the other guy got moved out the office for threatening behavior which makes my case even more stupid 2 managers said in front of my union rep off record i did nothing wrong,not 1 piece of evidence was brought against me at conduct meeting a number of statements backing me were taken by dom in fact finding,this guy even reported me to police to cover himself then withdrew it before trying to get the police involved again they looked at evidence and did not even bother to call me about complaint ben waiting 3 months for appeal and if i dont get it over turned seems i can do nothing about it so much for royal mails policy against bullies and harassment report it and get done yourself its a joke
