I've been offered 17k to go down to 23.5 hours on a 3 day week. I will be working for myself the rest of the week. I see it as my only way out of this poxy job after over 26 years service. I've not even had a thank you for the 25 year award. They can swivel.

They offered them (4 in total) as part of the transformation revision. My walk got eaten up in the revision. I'm 8th in seniority in our office and they are doing a 3 month trial at the moment. I have no duty now, so I'm floating until a re-sign. How fair is that? I thought stuff this, I'm going to get what I can out of them. I don't intend being there on my retirement day! When I go on a 3 day week I'll have to be a floater in a group of 3 walks. I will get every Wednesday and Thursday off and every 4th Saturday.

Yes, but there is a ceiling. Ask your gaffer about them, especially if you've not gone into transformation.

As long as you're not worried about the pension implications I would snap their hands off for the £17k.

We were told buydowns weren't available even though we had to lose hours out of the office... the people willing/wanting to reduce their hours just had to do it for free.
