"We are with you against the wholesale privatisation of the Royal Mail that is being undertaken. It is the wrong thing for Royal Mail in my view and is why we voted against it in parliament."

Re: ukip
Some gems from UKIP's THE POST OFFICE & ROYAL MAIL "Manifesto".
From a business perspective, there is no need for such a large manual workforce if the manual elements of the business are declining so markedly.
That was until the unions voted to strike, jeopardising the delivery of millions of pounds of Christmas purchases, even Christmas cards. So damaging was the strike that Amazon abandoned its sizeable account with Royal Mail, along with many others
The Royal Mail will be encouraged to franchise out suitable operations to efficient
private sector providers by taking over existing Royal Mail divisions or units
We must remember that lowering Royal Mail’s existing costs will make it easier to
provide for, and uphold the universal service
UKIP will transfer regulation of the post office sector to the Department of Business,
Innovation and Skills, placing regulation of the postal services industry under direct
control through the Westminster Parliament and overseen by the Business and
Enterprise Select Committee
The Department of Business, Innovation and Skills will license private operators to
operate in the postal services sector
UKIP would encourage the Royal Mail to franchise out suitable operations, such as
divisions or local sorting operations, to private bidders. These bidders may be current
or other private operators.
I'm convinced.

Re: ukip
Taking votes is not the same as taking seats Robbo and without seats they won't be forming anything.Red Robbo wrote:Don't right UKIP off with getting into government, they will take a lot of votes off the Liberals and may form a government with the Tories ?
Even in the Eastleigh by-election where everything was on their side, the media bandwagon,an unpopular Tory Government and unelectable candidate, disgraced Lib-Dem former incumbent and scandal hit party,non-existent joke Labour candidate...they were still second which is as good as last.
And that was a by-election where you tend to get more of a UKIP favouring protest vote.
In a general election people tend more to vote for parties with experience of Government, good or bad rather than vote for a one issue protest party.
