Assuming you work a standard 5 day week.

Take a full week's pay and divide it by 5.

Multiply this number by the number of days you purchase.
Less than 5 years service...7.5 days
5-15 years service...6.5 days
15-20 years service...4 days.

Divide this number by 52 and it should be roughly what you pay.

Most that do this tell me that you actually pay less than you should, don't know if it's true.

You have to go through your line manager/DOM.
It runs April to March (financial year).
There is a form to fill in I think. Ask in about February.

The charge is just a percentage reduction in your basic pay based on the difference between your leave entitlement and the amount you are purchasing. It's a 2% deduction for each week's extra leave (up to the maximum entitlement of six weeks total) and you have to take the option for an entire leave year (April to March). As far as I know, there's no minimum amount of service needed to apply for this but it usually needs to be applied for by the February preceding the leave year

In essence yes - better decide quick though cut off date for leave year 2014/15 is late February.
