Postmen and women are changing their delivery routes around Eastwood.



Royal Mail said changes were being implemented because fewer letters were being posted, and because the service needed to invest in some equipment to carry heavier parcels more safely.

The service will phase the changes in over the next four weeks.

A company spokesman said: “Royal Mail will continue to deliver in the morning and many customers will continue to get their mail by lunchtime.

“The time customers receive mail will depend on where they live. This may be later or possibly earlier than current delivery times.”

Is every change made now due to a reduction of mail volumes? Even though they are still 4 or 5 times higher now than they were when I started, and we had about 40 or 50 thousand more staff then. Yes, the volumes are down from the highest levels. but thy are still higher than at 99% of all other times in RM's history.

Reduction of mail volumes, Well of course it's been getting less and less for that many years now I go out with completely empty bags. In fact I should pay them for the fun I have
