Please find attached the CWU Accounts for 2012.


We are now able to publish these accounts following their full and detailed audit by our professional auditors Chantrey Vellacott DFK.


Branches are now invited to submit questions on this set of accounts. Questions must be addressed to the Senior Deputy General Secretary and received by no later than 17.00 on the 12th April 2013. Questions may be sent by e-mail but must be addressed to sdgs@cwu.org (Please note any emails or letters sent to any other email address or addressee will not be dealt with).


Responses to questions will be circulated to Branches in advance of CWU Annual Conference 2013.

Strange, I just redownloaded it and opened it fine no problems.

I didn't attach it as we pay the CWU and not Postman dues so I was trying to save his bandwidth.

I'll have my usual gripe now re CWU finances...
Today it's the political fund.

Members were told that the political fund had to be increased from 10p to 20p in order for the union to remain an "effective campaigning organisation-Billy Hayes".

The revenue for the political fund in 2011 was £881,185 and the spend was £822,586 leaving a surplus of £58,599.
To me that's pretty reasonable financial management...around 6% underspend.

This year with the increase in members subs the revenue was £1,663,041 but the spend was still £876,336 leaving a ridiculous surplus of £786,705.

Why double the political levy if we didn't need it Billy?
Money is tight for members,I don't think they appreciate the CWU hoarding it.

Well it may be money set aside for Labours Election campaign - you know how influential Billy has been in the past OR there's a number of holidays outstanding to be claimed for and there wasn't a space on the page for Holiday Money.

thanks for making this accessable fishtank. at times of austerity we seem pretty bloody well off. i agree with the comment of the taxmans obsession with a trade union, when others are ignored.
