RM Springboard workshops

I received a letter the other day asking me if I would be interested in attending a four day workshop to gain skills towards a potential career in management. I was wondering in anyone else received one of these letters or has anyone ever attended one?

Some of them are from the graduate training scheme and have actually failed in management elsewhere before failing at RM.

Oh yes, sorry I forgot to mention it was for women only. Not sure I'll bother to be honest, after having worked in an office for many years not sure I'd want to do it again or have the pressure that comes with it.

These workshope have been available since the 90's for women , they are not a springboard to just rm management you could also use the skills to become a CWU rep,

I attended one in the early 90's I think about 5 of us in our office attended , out of those 3 have left one went onto be a RM manager and me styed as a opg but got involved with the union back then

unless it has changed the format that you can only go if you want to become a manager , but I doubt it

I got my letter last week and if nothing else it looks like it could be a good skive.

Does anyone know if you get paid release/travel expenses to attend
Or is my Dom likely to cunningly arrange my days off or tell me to take annual leave? (in which case I shan't bother)

Is this not discrimination against men - should we not also have the opportunity to scale the dizzy heights of managerial influence - why are women being recruited as managers? This could be a grievance issue.

Attended 2 of these springboard courses in 6 yrs ,the 2nd one after transfering to another office
Got paid travelling expenses ,and had to work through a work book
But they are a waste of time and nothing about royal mail ,and they are normally 9-5 pm ,it would have been easier to go to work
