Royal Mail delivery routes set to change in Cleckheaton

Homes and businesses in Cleckheaton could receive their post later in the day, under efficiency measures unveiled by Royal Mail.

Delivery routes are being revised, as the organisation responds to a drop in the number of letters being posted.

Cleckheaton is the last area around Bradford to have the changes introduced, and Royal Mail bosses say there will be no job losses among its postal staff.

But they are warning residents and businesses that their postman or woman could change, as could the time of day they receive their mail.

The organisation said while the number of letters being posted had dropped, more people were receiving parcels, so it was investing in trolleys for its staff.

This would reduce the risk of injury from heavy post sacks and would also mean parcels would be delivered more securely, a spokesman said.

Royal Mail’s delivery director, Steve McGuinness, said: “We are proud of the high regard in which our postmen and women are held in Cleckheaton.

“The changes to delivery routes will mean that a member of our local and experienced team will still be delivering to our customers in Cleckheaton.

“We are fully committed to providing a high quality of service that is as reliable and friendly as customers have come to expect from Royal Mail in Cleckheaton over many years.”

Royal Mail spokeswoman Felicity MacFarlane, said: “There will be no change to staff numbers or jobs at Cleckheaton Delivery Office, which is the last of the delivery offices in the Bradford area to have delivery changes introduced.”
