Hi I've been a postie for 10 years in the same office, we just had our revision and I was left to sign for reserve. Others who only joined 1 year ago got duties..and all because I cannot drive the cdvs..unfair I think.

That depends on whether the CDV duty pair already has a driver.
Only one person can drive a van but it seems some managers want to limit CDV duties to drivers only and dump the non-drivers on HCT duties or reserves.
What use is a non-driving reserve?

Well of course I cannot sign for a driving duty because I don't drive...obvious. Rm and union drummed seniorty into us when we joined..what good is it now.

CDV should never been allowed by the union. They've caused us to lose more walks than we should off. And the seniority issue is a disgrace.
I've always remembered CWU (us) fighting for seniority.
Why CDV are used in city delivery offices I never know. Our area has a radius of around 6 mile and we have 3 CDV not needed.
What makes me laugh health and safety say you can't walk over a mile to your first delivery point,but its ok to walk 6 to 8 mile delivering.

Royal Mail make the business plan. Not the union.
The union never had any sort of veto on the introduction of new delivery methods.

Well we were told CWU pushed for CDVs on health and safety grounds. On basis that any walk a mile from office had to be CDV.
Office didn't want them but rep was told by area safety rep that they had to be put in.

Out of the choice of walking a mile or having junior staff getting duties first because they can drive. I'll take the mile hike thanks.

So let me understand this - you are pissed off because the CWU stuck to the agreement rather than change it to suit your circumstances.

When we get park and loop I will be in the same boat as you and will probably become a non driving reserve. Do I like it, no, but I ain't blaming the Union, they at least had a vote on it, I blame the bosses for coming up with idea in the first place, and poor implementation of DM in the second place.

Its understandable you are pissed off but at least lay the blame at the correct door.
