It is basically so they can start a paper trail of your misdeeds, under the guise of helping you to improve performance. Load of crap.

Spot on,it's an indirect threat,I've had it over performance issue's,you can ask for your rep or witness to be in with you.

I'm sure this isn't the case here but it's also occasionally used (I swear, I've seen it) as an opt-out by a good manager when a usually good postie does something that could get them the sack.

Counselling is part of the conduct code.
It's the sensible part.
Most managers skip it and move straight to the punishment part.
It "excites" them.

Sounds like what they're doing here. Off sick with anything that could take a while to heal and they drag you in for some meeting and basically pressurise you into going back before your time.
I would get in touch with your rep/area rep and see if you're allowed representation during these RM approved bullying sessions.

Good advice. I always insist on a rep. Have had many meetings 'cancelled' when asked for a rep. That is, when I asked for my rep, I heard no more about it. Curious that.
