With all the duties in our office effected by new start times are we entitle to have a re-sign or re-pick.
And shouldn't that really take place before the new times come into operation?

Re: RE-SIGN OF DUTIES
only a re-sign if duty is changed in any way i think, but not the start times.. anyhow the way things are going signed for duties be out the window with this flexi stuff!!! :cfoastrobatz wrote:With all the duties in our office effected by new start times are we entitle to have a re-sign or re-pick.

RESOURCING JOBS DURING MAJOR CHANGE
16. 1 The new standard resourcing procedures covered in the previous two sections of this agreement benefit employees by giving them regular opportunities to apply for a change of job, both within their unit and their resourcing area. These incorporate and standardise the current practices of rolling re-signs, based on seniority. This section deals with the only other circumstance where people change jobs. This is where jobs alter significantly as a result of the introduction of major change. The overriding aims for managing all such exercises must be to minimise customer disruption and avoid unnecessary displacement of employees in a way that conforms to equal opportunities legislation. This will be ensured by timely planning and full CWU involvement at all stages of the exercise.
2 Major change is defined as:
• the relocation or merger of units
• a significant process alteration arising from automated working or reshaping of the pipeline
• delivery revisions, which involve significant replotting of walks or significant restructuring of attendance patterns (e.g. full-time/part-time mix, five- day weeks, 'longs and shorts' or 'night plus a first delivery', where they are agreed)
For a reselection exercise to be considered the extent of such a change must be that it has a significant impact ( in content and/or attendance times ) on over 1/3 of the jobs in the unit.
3 Major change is not defined as:
• revisions of staffing arrangements, using the procedures agreed in the Performance Bonus Scheme, to implement the Performance Bonus Scheme, Shorter Working Week, Meal Relief Harmonisation and Work Time Learning or to improve alignment of staffing to workload in order to make performance improvements, unless they fall into the categories of major change defined in paragraph 2 above.
• Delivery revisions which do not involve significant replotting of first delivery walks.

I would say that the attendance times do have a significant impact on most people and since that nearly every duty in the office is effected then a re-sign should be automatic. For a reselection exercise to be considered the extent of such a change must be that it has a significant impact ( in content and/or attendance times ) on over 1/3 of the jobs in the unit.
However, most people in my office will say nothing and just go along with whatever they are told.
If this flexi stuff comes in, we'll all need to be flexible enough to find other jobs.
Thanks for the responces Madelin and Curly.
Perhaps the CWU should look into re-signs again, it might slow down the rate of change.
Cheers!
Batz.

General feeling is re-signs are a no,no.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

You generally find that over a period of time and it has been 3 years in this office, so you can imagine the turnover, duties have been done by new starters and people who were formally "spare" and duties have not been advertised as they should have been when they became vacant. We have lost many hours from full time to part time staff in this way.POSTMAN wrote:General feeling is re-signs are a no,no.
In those circumstances it is in the favour of those people NOT to choose a re-pick because they have no seniority and the duty could be chosen by someone with more seniority, which is as it should be!
Every office should choose a re-sign and if you lose the duty tough, but it would cause even more hassle for the management at a time when the rolling strikes take effect.

We were told there will not be a full re-sign, only a vacant duty re-sign.
Now here's a question I have for any reps on here (seeing as I can never seem to find my own one). My current round has been made part time with the changes from October 8th so I was told I could sign for one of the vacant duties. No I know there's about 9 vacant duties in total but when the manager came to me, I only had the choice of four.
I wasn't that bothered as the one I wanted to sign for was one of these four but the question is, when the vacant duty re-sign starts, will the one I signed for go back into the hat or am I now the walkholder? Just curious as someone in my office seems to think I'll just be 'covering' the duty for the time being so I get my holiday picks etc.

A re-sign is at the workforce request when the criteria is triggered. Management would have to abide by the agreement - mind you whenever have they done that recently - you could go to disagreement of course - but then what?

Re-sign?
I dont want any re-sign, nor any other crap which makes it easy for Royal Mail to paper over cracks!
In my office there are those ACAS forms going around. All you do is put your pay number on them, sign them and hand it back to your DOM.
This then offically tells them that you are not prepared to change your hours, as your all aware this will buy us more time for our union to hopefully sort this crap out!
One out- All out!
Ps Why are admin staff working when were on strike? They are part of the CWU!
:cfo I hate you! :lfo Oh and you!
