holidays whilst the strike is on

thinking of going away for the weekend whilst the strikes are on if and i mean if they get called off would i have to come back to work asap? or could i just go back on weds morning?

Technically you would have to come back to work,but you would get away with it being 'unofficial action' depending on when/what time it was called off,just like the last one.

It really cheers me up to know that some people with the loss of four days pay can afford to swan off on holiday

I must have missed the message from the CWU to RM. "We are taking four days of IA,oh sorry, four days holiday. Get on the picket with your mates

been there and done it for the last 4 days of action were lucky dude we have a rock solid office , there is no doubt of any1 going in, if you need to picket yours you obviously have strike breakers in your office !!

A holiday....... wish I could afford to miss 4 days in 1 week and go on "holiday" hope the strike gets called off and you lose that money spent at Haven..... I will be down on the picket line counting how many staff go in...... Been told that if more the 75% go in work over the strike days, they will be made to go out on delivery. Got the feeling in out office from what staff say, that could be possible. ALSO what time do we start on Wednesday.....0500 like we should or 0615 which goes against CWU ???

no money to lose dude i aint booked it yet and i wont till friday morning
i seem to missing the point somewhere if you lose 4 days pay allright its not easy but surely that dosnt put you on the breadline
i have a Â£650 a month mortgage, 2 kids and a wife and we seem to manage ok and wifey only works 15 hours a week
we go out once a month we eat well and have a SMALL savings pot but by loosing Â£200 quid were not starving homeless or desolute!!

Personally I think we should be on the picket line regardless of whether there are strike breakers in your office or not. It's a show of strength and solidarity that we are prepared to stand outside the gates in whatever weather and demonstrate against Royal Mail's ridiculous proposals.

I'm not criticising you though mate, you've not crossed the line and that's what's important. It's just most of us on here don't see it as a holiday.

We didn't have more than 75% go in on any of the days, but they all went out on delivery, they didn't want 2 days mail to deliver when we came back.

I want to know what they will be doing mon & tue, as they should of delivered everything in the office by then, I'm hoping thye'll be sent to other offices.

That's a good point,i'm losing Â£150(3 days,one day is rest day) over 2 weeks,it's a pain but it aint gonna kill me.
I just go to half payments on non essential bills,in fact you can do that on most.
Which gets me when the scaremongers start talking bout losing houses and the like.

you dont just satnd on your picket line to stop strike breakers its about showing a presence to both the management who have no doubts will be counting all those on the pickets and also showing public that were are serious about the situation by giving up pay - if there are only a few numbers on picket what sign solidarity are we giving?

It's no good counting on the fact that you have a solid Office, if there's no Picket Line. They'll just get loads of Agency in!

Most Agency workers (at least in my area), won't cross the lines. But if we're not there, what's to stop them?
