As a Delivery Operations Manager you will leverage your operational experience and workplace organisation skills to drive staff engagement and communications, pro-actively raise quality standards, and bring pace to the modernisation implementation action plan through your leadership skills. These roles are designed to bring in talented individuals to the organisation and as such the expectation is successful applicants will progress quickly within the organisation.

If you have a track record of leadership and delivering results within an Operational environment, can demonstrate a strong career progression to date,and you possess some or all of the following then we would be interested in talking to you:

Strong communication skills and the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders
Operational team leadership experience
An ability to make sound commercial decisions
Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills
Experience of integrating and delivering change in a complex operational environment

I know of DOMs (and other managers) who have been offered and have taken VR in blatant contravention of government guidelines which state that "The Voluntary Redundancy will result in a genuine headcount reduction". By recruiting DOMs (and graduates) at the same time as giving VR (normally as a golden handshake or a means of getting rid of managers who do not fit the RM mould) the business is clearly contravening these terms. They have been doing it for years and have more recently been threatening compulsory redundancy to remove the more sane and reasonable (yes they do exist) managers of all grades.

I have worked as a postie for a year now, and basically enjoy it. I come from the sort of background and experience that they are looking for; but the the main thing that I have learned is that no-one with any sense would possibly ever want to be a manager in this lot. They make Britsh Leyland in the seventies look cutting edge, and they have the union they deserve.

In the first office i worked in as a Xmas casual - if you had put all eight managers in a room, you still would not have had enough brain cells to build an idiot!

RM wont recruit the cream of outside mangers because word gets round.

They don't manage, they get told what to do.

apparently our rep (according to him) has been offered a managers job. he can go straight in at level 4.,,,? which is the current lino's rank. and he will be skipping over the current ''acting lino'' who has been at his present rank for the past 10yrs. it makes a mockery of the managerial c.v. requirements.

I'm a rep too, been offered the lino job by the DSM, i'm more than capable to do the job, i CAN manage, but i refuse to manage whithin Royal mail, i refuse to hand out stage warnings to people that do not deserve it, i refuse to blame people for having a genuine accident, i refuse to try and bully people into working at a BSI that is bollocks, traffic figures and such like that are not realistic, i RUFUSE to be a c***...
