Question about D2D's
I started as a reserve towards the end of January and I've been on 6 different walks in the 10 or so weeks I've been employed with RM.
I'm on a 25 hour week contract and I've gone over my hours in the first couple of days of a new walk and they've paid me o/t...so no problem.
But, my problem is with D2D's which are paid pro rata...but I deliver the full amount each week and only get paid £13.80.
As soon as I get to the D2D's section of my walk, my mood changes from mildly happy to VERY irritated. I keep thinking I'm misdelivering if there's a heavy load of junk and it really slows me down.
Anyway, last week I only delivered D2D's to the addresses I had letters for and binned the rest.
Am I going down a slippery slope...or is this normal?

Re: Question about D2D's
You do not get paid £13.80 for delivering D2ds. This is a delivery supplement and if you do overtime, any extra hours earned up to the full time hours of 39 include an extra amount to cover the delivery supplement on these additional overtime hours.
As for not delivering D2ds to doors that you have no other mail for, you are asking for serious trouble. D2ds are regarded by Royal Mail as important as any other mail and it is part of your duty that you deliver to every drop on your walk apart from those who have opted out. Not delivering and destroying D2ds that should have been delivered will be classed as wilful delay and will probably mean loss of your job. Dont take short cuts. Deliver to every address bar opt outs at the rate of one sixth of your walk per day and you wont go wrong. Leaving those doors that you have no more mail for is ok if you make sure that they are all delivered within that week, but doing it this way may store up problems for you if you do not get them delivered.

Re: Question about D2D's
Nobody gets an extra payment for D2D.
They are part of your workload.
Yours is a slippery path to the Job Centre.
It will be classed as wilful delay and you could be sacked for not delivering them to specification.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Umm, no, I was asking a genuine question...I thought the £13.80 I received each week was for D2D's.

Re: Question about D2D's
No what happened was this.
We used to get 1.3p (on average) per d2d delivered. Everyone on delivery got paid that pro-rata ie you claimed for how many items you delivered per week.
D2d money was cancelled after the last big agreement because it was never an official agreed payment and RM said it's being cancelled end of. To make up for the loss of money everyone was given a 'delivery supplement'. It is paid pro-rata which was a big mistake by the CWU because we all now it's a cut down version of d2d money. But offcially it's NOT a d2d payment.
Everyone should do 17% per day of d2d. If you work 2 days a week you do 17x2. If you do 5 days a week you do 17x5. Saturdays included. End of.

Re: Question about D2D's
Still confused because I thought most full timers got £21 delivery supplement.
I deliver all the D2D's each week and usually prep them as well.
Oh the joys of being a 3 month contract worker!

Yes that's what I said. The delivery supplement is paid based on hours worked.meercat wrote: It is paid pro-rata
You have the wrong attitude to d2d leaflets. They are as important as the letters to the company because they make RM a s**t load of cash. If you dump them expect RM to dump you and rightly so.
When you say you deliver all the d2d I don't know what you mean because not sure if you are 5days a week? P+L or HTC? In a nutshell as I already said, you are supposed to do 17% each day you work.

Re: Question about D2D's
It's nothing to do with being on a 3 month contract, I'm on a permanent contract for 25hrs a week and get the same amount (13:80)Mr Whizz wrote:Still confused because I thought most full timers got £21 delivery supplement.

If you do overtime the amount you get paid for over the 25 hours up to 39 is more than a regular full time workers hourly rate (up to their 39th hour).
This is to compensate for the less weekly DS you get.
So say you did 39 hours in a week, you would still only get £13.80 DS, but your total wages at the end of the week would should be around the same amount of money as a full timer.
Because you are paid a higher hourly rate for the hours between 25 and 39.

...and get your lino's to prep your D2D's I do....am also on 24 hours so have no time otherwise. Lino's know that if they don't prep them, they don't get done so they're always prepped!

Re: Question about D2D's
Can anyone tell me why sometimes we have maybe 6 d2d one week then just 1 the next. Then you might have 2 one week then 3 or 4. Why cant we have 2 or maximum 3 throughout the year. Has anyone tried to fit 6 d2ds in a frame with double slots? Its virtually impossible on a busy day.
Why aren't the unions looking into these near enough impossible tasks they are asking members to do. Probably too busy drinking tea with their Royal MAIL MANAGEMENT FRIENDS.

Yes you are going down a slippery slope - direct to an appearance in front of a magistrate and a criminal record.Mr Whizz wrote:

Re: Question about D2D's
It used to be a maximum of 3 but the cap has been lifted and there is no maximum - all down to the BT2010 deal.arthur was right wrote:Can anyone tell me why sometimes we have maybe 6 d2d one week then just 1 the next. Yes its not impossible but its certainly very difficult and untidy and can lead directly to mail being misdelivered. However, the people who came up with the agreement never had to to D2D but (and I can't say this without a hint of sarcasm) at least they included it in the workload .arthur was right wrote:Has anyone tried to fit 6 d2ds in a frame with double slots? Although some full Time released members of RMC think I may be attacking them I am not - but I firmly believe that this sort of thing would be recognised if reps and officers had current experience, and I also believe that this lack of current experience is also part of the disconnect between the Union and its members.arthur was right wrote:Why aren't the unions looking into these near enough impossible tasks they are asking members to do. And you'll stay on a 24 hr contract because managers are doing work that should rightly be done by an OPG.seaside53 wrote:...and get your lino's to prep your D2D's I do....am also on 24 hours so have no time otherwise. Re: Question about D2D's
I only post my D2D's when I have letters going to that house, if not then they stay in the frame until I do. I can't be doing with wasting time going to houses just to post D2D's.
