ANOTHER holiday question

basically i will be resigning some time around september, am i right in thinking, if i havent taken holiday by then, i am entitled to have all that im owed paid to me?

and also all the english hols
reason one of our bank hols seems to have gone astray and has done for few years would be nice to claim them back

they can make you take your holiday in your notice period, it's hard to get one up on them, Sep is 5 months into the year so you may get a week at best of paid holiday or two weeks if you've worked 20+ years

Not a full years entitlement no.

Holidays are accrued on an ongoing basis throughout the year. Therefore if you work from April to the start of September you will only have accreted 5/12 of your entitlement. If you have taken more than that then you will either owe them which will taken of your final wage.

If you have accrued more than you have taken, then this can be paid as untaken holiday (I think not 100% sure), or added to the notice period. That means if you gave a weeks notice and had 3 days holiday accrued but not used then they can make your last day at work 3 days earlier.

we are in scotland and as far as im aware we get these public hols

i know we get extra day for 2nd jan but we dont get good friday off
so where has our july /aug mon gone

We lost our summer bank holiday in Scotland years ago because we were getting more holidays than the rest of the UK Royal Mail wanted to do away with the 2nd January holiday in Scotland but I believe the union negotiated away the local summer bank holiday instead

The July bh (summer) went when they reinstated the 2nd may bank holiday which for a couple of years had been scrapped
