Was held today.
Very good attendance best ever apparently.
Main Points were.
1 Briefing on National Reps brief in London yesterday. What RM want
a. Total Flexibility, task and go to end, Flexibility will be over a week so 40 hrs total (ie longs and shorts).
b. New attendance procedure all stages the same 2 absences and/or 5 days.
c. Apparently RM want us to stop using our cars so that they can bring in new equipment. One thought is to give a walking postman an electrical carrier/scooter, and he takes everything for his walk. No more sending out large packets by driver.
d. Confirmed that AL is on the board of TNT and apparently we are or are a European partner for TNT. (here come minimum wages and part time work force)
e. Long term plan is to have Mothers and Student types having mail sent to them for delivery. Sorting etc done prior to being sent out to them.
f. Walk sequencing to come in. Not said in so many words the next bit but my take on what was said is that RM are pushing for this as a perfect system that works already with no slack for when system breaks down, hence total flexibility.
g. Union hierarchy done away with - nothing between unit rep and CWU HQ.
h. RM want unofficial action as they are trying to use this as a loop hole to freeze the unions assets. So everyone please whatever they do do not go out on unofficial action this is waht RM want official.
What Union proposed:
a. Separate Pensions from dispute as this involves all of the RM Group not just RM Letters/Deliveries.
b. Realistic approach to savings not as they want only get share if above set targets.
c. Bring in flexibility but not the "One size fits all" approach that RM want.
d. Pay rise of 6% from 1 Oct 07, and they are trying to get something for Apr - Sep. However the Union want this separated from all other issues as well.
e. Later starts to be agreed locally with not all duties being same and early finish Saturdays protected.
Local News:
1. Huddersfield Officially 100% so far on all strikes.
2. Slaithwaite started 50/50 but by last strike very few went in.
3. Scisset again started 50/50 but only 1 went in on last strike. This means that locally the support got stronger.
4. Area wise Bingley and Brighouse worked normally.
5. Mass attendance at picket line planned for Friday at usual start times ie 5.00 am F/T and 7.00am PT. The offer is so bad so everyone in Huddersfield asked to show their true feeling for the offer and join the picket on Friday.
6. One members asked others to go to Brighouse and make the posties aware of the issues. The union officers strongly advised no as this is illegal and would lead to suspensions and dismissal, it could also be deemed as unofficial action.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
