What happened to all the good postman ??

DOM complains to one of my colleague who came back after a weeks holiday.
He says "the postie that did your round this week didn't book any extended O/T"
my colleague replies that he does his round by the book, doesn't cut corners, takes his break , doesn't come in early , fill in dockets correctly and uses a trolley"
All the DOM is interested in is cost cutting and turning a blind eye .
Soon all the good posties will be forced out and will be left with a workforce of fence jumping ,doorstepping , couldnt give a s**t, runners

In my office p&l has been in for about a year, their must be about 5 posties including me who uses the trolley maximum, i know of at least ten posties coming in early take no breaks etc, and 1 who has been on his duty for a year but on a provisional contract, the dom said to him he must do more than what is normally accepted and he will give him a contract so he gives them 1hr40 for free daily. Apparently today was the heaviest in years and 90% of duties failed some 1-2 loops and others 5 loops, the managers were out doing the specials and noticed a few not using the trolleys, on return with their failed loops the dom had them in the office threatening conduct code for not using them. I hope this is a lesson to everyone in my office to use the trolleys, we all know the office would collapse if they were used but they all bury their heads in the sand in the hope they may finish 5-10 mins early after carrying 16kg like in the past, i asked if their had been any weights of pouches tested recently and was fobbed off saying their tested regularly, which is a blatent lie. I dont really care if others want to break their backs etc, but i am victimized for doing the job correct and constantly being watched,timed etc because i cut off on the rounds these fools run around on.

This is a national problem ,but i dont let it worry me they are making a rod for there own backs .When something goes wrong and they are at fault dont think for one minute doms will back you ,i do my job as instructed im getting pulled in now and again but all i say to them come out and test me and all i get back is we havent got time .If you are prepared to let them bully you they will ,as for me not a chance i wont allow them .

Quite a few young part timers have started in our office in recent weeks. I was working with one of them last week and he was a bit of a flyer. I asked him if he had been booking extended or cutting off. "Booking extended", he replied. I then asked him what his finish time was, and he didn't know. So how can he book extnded if he doesn't know his finish time?

I ve taken out and shadowed 3 new starters in the past few months. I ve shown them only the proper way of working and made sure they booked and got paid when we went over. However one has turned into a real flyer and has already started coming in an hour early. The only thing thats happened is the dom has stopped getting his delivery fully prepped as he know the guy will be coming in early.

I did point this out to him last week but he just said " i need to finish early". However when he does finish he tends to hang around drinking coffee and chilling so whats the point

Couldn't agree with you more ! ..Its happening all over the country in DO's you'll get certain members of staff that'll speed in vans, short cut to finish early and generally mess it up for the good posties who are trying to do their job right !!.

We're being slowly suffocated with pressure from managers who want us to cut corners, who would then cut us loose to protect themselves, but still can't understand why we do our job within RM's own rules. We are also getting pressure from some stupid colleagues who race round like idiots, giving management more ammunition against us, who can't get it into their heads that running round does not now, nor will it in the future, benefit any of us. And they all wonder why postmen/women with a decent level of service have had enough.
