Special Delivery items

A DIM in our area is telling his drivers that if a firm/company recieves a number of Special Delivery items, for example 20 items, they can be bagged up and counted as 1 item in the vehicle. Some drivers are taking out over 100 SD items when I'm sure the agreed amount is 40 per trip.

I don't know what the limit is but I am sure there is one. Security reasons. I have been told never to carry more than 4 at a time. Putting them in a bag does not make 20 magically become 1. If 20 go missing, they have to pay 20 compensation claims, not 1 as they are in a bag. I would suggest the DIM is unwilling to stand the obvious extra cost that would be incurred in operating under the standards.

How do you put 20 into a bag, do you not scan them or do you take the bag into the premises, tip out all the specials and then scan them?

Make a phone call to RM Security they will love to hear of bad practices like this believe me i did it once upon a time Dom got a right bollocking.If one was to be missed scanned it will be you without a job not your Dim W****** all of them trying to cut corners.

40 is the max for a van I think.
