More Hours

It's no doubt been asked before, but I'll ask again.
What are the chances of part-timers like me being offered more hours in the near/distant future?

I've approached it with my manager and told him in revision that I not only welcome more hours but would love to work full time.
But it's all gone quiet. The runours are that 20 hours part-timers will be offered/expected 24 shortly but I'm looking for at least a 30 hour contract ideally.
Been working for Royal Mail a year this week, and they've just sent me another 6 month fixed term 20 hour contract. Should I sign and return it? Or hang on to see what happens?
And how does a transfer work in RM? I've heard it's a long drawn out process....

In our small office two partime 25 hour contracts were made up to fixed 40 hour contracts last year. This was mainly due to pressure by our rep to fill 2 vacant duties which had been left that way for about 2 years.

Well, I know of a walk in our office that is vacant but usually gets covered by lapsing/absorption.

Yes we have a walk which is "un signed" and we cover it mon / tue on absorbtion.

Our 2 walks just became vacant when people left and were not offered for signing. TBH the office did not mind as they came up as OT a lot of the time but they were still costing us two jobs. Our rep had to really push to get them to offer the walks as duties once again.

after a revision you are more likely to either go up or go down, depending on how much they want to cut. Remember revisions are for cutting and saving hours - they will do it one way or another and their main aim is to have as many part timers as possible and just pay overtime. One way is to prove in the last 6 months you have done such and such overtime per week and contact your union or area rep to make them give you a more suitable contract in relation to hours worked.
