2013 pay rise, RM letters/MC staff

Anyone know what is going to be negotiated re latest pay rise?

Cannot find any info anywhere re possible pay rise.

I know it won't be much but would still like to know.

I expect we will get a letter in the next two weeks from Royal Mail saying your pay rise eg 1.5%. Then there will be long talks with the CWU and well get the real rise in October with a lump sump. Of course RPI 3.3% and CPI 2.7%. With privatisation coming up and the need to keep everyone happy plus all the hard work we have put in to World Class Mail I'd say 3.0% was more realistic. The stamp price rise, the offloading of the pension deficit, and money to waste on WCM means there are hundreds of millions of pounds swilling about in this company at the moment.

I doubt it.
In cases of protracted wage increase negotiations Royal Mail Letters very seldom show their hand first.
Usually we hear rumours of what the initial offer is but nothing official.

It suits both parties in the negotiation process for the members not to know what the "no strings" baseline figure is because if you did you would therefore know what the "strings" actually cost Royal Mail and you might not be too impressed or as keen to accept the deal.

I think a starting point should be the return of the overtime rate to time and a half - that would hopefully encourage people working for nothing at the start of the day to think again, and, as we are now working later in the day if we do go into extended delivery it is a more appropriate reward for the inconvenience incurred. I don't work my days off now or take overtime on other walks after my own duty and haven't since the revision came in, as the work load increased and a day off was a blessing rather than an earning opportunity, but for those that will help out, the fact that your overtime rate actually drops in value after 10 hours is ludicrous.
I average about two to three hours a week on extended delivery on my own duty and to add 50% to the hourly rate instead of approximately 10% would be welcome.

This, of course should be in addition to the basic £10 an hour that we should all be getting

I just want the UK average basic wage we where promised by the CWU about 6 years ago at that round of pay negotiations

As rhino49 mentioned I could never understand the union letting the time & half o/t go, reinstating that would help so many.

We will just have to wait and see i suppose .

The managers rejected offers of 1.5% and subsequently 2%. So my guess would be a starting offer in that region. There have been rumours of 0%, which I wouldn't be surprised at, and my manager told me that we had been offered 3.5% but the union outright rejected it. Didn't believe him.

Another rumour was something along the lines of what I believe Post Office staff have been offered, one off lump sum payment, which a couple of guys I work with said they would take. Personally not interested. Don't think we'll hear anything for a while yet.

The fact is that with all the issues bumbling and Royal Mail's transformation plan failing Royal Mail want a pay deal with a load of strings and ropes and of course the union want a deal with no strings but a commitment to resolve the other issues including allowing the 30 million which is out their in unpaid lump sums to be paid.

If Royal Mail offer no pay rise then there will be a ballot along with the other issues and you will decide whether your up for fighting for a pay rise.

Remember every branch was instructed last week to draw up a plan where every workplace has a meeting before conference to explain the issues. There is a meeting on Thursday of regional secretaries and Divisonal reps who will be responsible for ensuring that the plan has been sent to HQ and that the branch is actually having the meetings.

As usual some banch's will do nothing but some of us will. let's hope others get off their backsides and join in this time.

dingo,, thanks... im in,, if its all out,,, i know royal mail just want to eat away at every right the postie has,, making working conditions just impossible.. there bad enough now,, cannot take much more of this crap.. and yes still waiting for the last 200 pound from 2010... it should be 300 including interest..

Dingo, I'll be in if the union play a proper game rather than stupid rolling strikes that do shat all but harm our pay packets and create chaos for walking staff on subsequent days.

It will be interesting to see what we will earn over next 12 months. Bearing this in the mind.

1. Increased tax allowance for our salary
2. Pay Rise of X amount
3. Bonus for profit for x amount (assuming there is one due)
4. Bonus for privatisation sale
5. shares for privatisation
6. EVR for those who want out.
7. And of course increased Christmas pressure to 200 pounds.
