to ask about my chances of my contract being renewed?

Hi,

I'm 6 weeks into a 3 month-30 hour fixed term temporary contract and i have to say i'm really loving the job, it's a lot harder than i ever thought it was going to be but in a good way as the days fly by. I've been covering annual leave each week so far on P&L and started driving a week ago, i've also been getting my fair share of overtime and feel like i'm doing ok so far. Anyway i really want to stay in the job and keep wondering whether it would be a good thing to approach the manager and see what the chances are of being kept on or would i be better putting my head down, cracking on and seeing what happens?

It just makes you feel a bit insecure when you have a date 6 weeks away hanging over your head that means you could be out of a job you love....

Any advice would be great,

Most of the FTCs at my office have been on those contracts for over a year. Good luck.

They will renew it and carry on renewing for two years plus so you are here to stay you never get away you only give up

In order for RM to not renew your contract, you would have to be pretty bad at your job. As long as your puntual, get on with it, don't make mistakes, there is no reason for you not to be kept on. I'd give you a 99% chance of remaining employed. The only possibility of you not getting a renewed contract, would be if the office is going through a revision and they only need you until then, but you would be made aware of this, if not by a manager, then by a rep.

I'd try not to worry, they tend to leave it to the last minute to tell you, and not necessarily in person, often by letter. Unless your manager tells you otherwise, just keep turning up. It's not a bad idea to ask your boss if you'll be kept on, it's not like it will cause you to lose your job.

FTTC basically easier to budget .Its like a trial period and enables the Bullys(Doms) to work out if your any good (A**Wipe)=easy to bully.Only want to do contracted hours(Stubborn awkward to manage) lets not renew contract .

How would you know if an office is going through a revision? I must admit the only pressure i've felt so far is to complete in time as i found the whole 'overtime' lingo a bit hard to fathom at first, it's a very strange process RM overtime and reminds me of buying from a shop in Egypt or Morocco, people barter.

The replies have given me more confidence regarding the contract so thanks for that.

Im in the same boat, my 20hr contract runs out next week, i asked my boss whether they'd keep me on and they said theyre going to renew the contract for another 3 months. Would have liked a bump up to 30hrs because thats what im currently working!
