Been Refused 5 holidays now..

Hi, im on a 6 month temp contract, i was under the impression it would not be renewed (letter in post saying a change in business format) so didnt tell them of holidays after this point, after speaking to numerous folk who told me i would be kept on i have tried booking some holidays . One very important as im getting married in vegas in septmeber and i requested 9 days off, the others not as important but just dont get why i cant get a week off at the end of November???? 5 holidays all turned down. The worst thing about tit all is im classed as a spare, never on the same walk, usually in a different town from week to week. Annoyed!!!!

What would you do in my situation?

HAve a word with union rep to see if he/she can help. If you have week off every 6 weeks you could ask someone to swap a week off if necessary.

Yeah i was granted it anyway, full term temp contract i think is the wording.

You should get the time off to get married as it's a 'special occasion',it obviously is but when I got my sentence my screw told me I would be guaranteed it off,because it's a special occasion thingy.

yeah great advice there encouraging people to pull sickies, no wonder genuine people get hassle when off sick, he should try and sort the original problem rather than create others by cheating the system himself

Or Royal Mail should employ more staff or be abit flexible. Seeing as we all bend over backwards week in week out. The guy is getting married for hells sake. Royal Mail the only company to refuse time off for a guy to get married. Joke! What next? Refusing funeral leave?

Refused me the day off to go to my Dads funeral.

I went sick for 4 months with stress.

This is the same DOM who took 2 months special leave when his own parents died.

Ok let's work this out,father/mother in law = wifes/husbands mum/dad.
Now wife/husband has to go to a funeral of mum/dad.
Are scumbag RM managers expecting these people to go to something like that without support!!!

A few years back the exact same thing happend to one of our guys,the manager refused him time off to go to his mother in law's funeral with his wife.
He had to come in on the day and was in pieces,in the end he had to be sent home.
