We were told today we've had it easy for far too long ! Didn't think morale cud sink lower. Fed up of this mails down nonsense getting rammed down our throats every day , every single day. Mails down mails down mails down . Oh that's I've 8 bags of mail then , 4 coded to start , 5 d to d ,3 drop bags of erm,,,parcels ,oh and shitloads of flats. God help us if the mails ever over! Erm managers we've a third of the full time staff we had before ,,,that doesn't make a difference eh. My body's in bits nowadays ,but we've had it easy for far too long,,, Rant now ended .

As far as the average Postie is concerned it’s the actual mail on his back per day that matters. The fact that were losing work to DSA is mostly irrelevant.

My approach since the revision has been exactly this but with the hassle that comes with it I wonder whether its worth it

The real problem isn't the prople who follow this advice, it's the ones who don't. After all, if everyone worked in this manner, i.e. correctly, then jobs would be more secure, and the managers wouldn't have the chance to hassle people like you to do as others do, as they would see it as a pointless excercise achieving nothing.

I know what you're saying about the hassle, it's constant and unrelenting, I get it. But it doesn't get me down. When they've finished their tirade, I just ask my original question, i.e. how much am I leaving or shall I bring it back. If they see it doesn't bother you, hopefully at some point it will sink in and they'll stop. And hopefully some of your colleagues will join in. I never go past my time, even when the bang on about flexability, I usually point out the lack of exceptional circumstances which is what flexability is for, and that the reason I can't complete is that the duties weren't constructed correctly to effectively cope with the mail volumes we have.

Naive to think this will solve all your problems and lead to a stress free existence.
It's obviously the right thing to do and if you have a strong office,good rep,supportive branch and to be honest half decent managers you should be OK.
That combination is rare,you might be lucky,your luck might change.

If your management team are useless bullies you will be targeted,
If your office is weak and your rep and branch are poor you will be isolated,
In this situation you must be ready for it,read up on as much as you can and always take notes,don't be afraid to contact CWU HQ,know your rights,know your enemy but don't underestimate the fight....stress free it isn't.

spot on Fishtank. Luckily ive never been in that position, but post revision who knows? Ive always stood my corner but know from isolated times i have had to do it that cutting off is never an easy path to follow. This is especially true if your DOM does not know the rules - but thinks he does!

I've been cutting off for the past 18 months, and it's pretty stressful as each lino seems to adopt a different strategy to try and grind you down. Matters aren't helped by the fact that only about 10 to 15% cut off, whereas the rest will just book o/t.

Cant see why booking overtime is a problem surely its the ones that come in early and dont take their breaks that cock it up for everyone

We have had a revision in place for over a month and the park n loops fail nearly everyday.We are standing our corner and cutting-off,but now the manager has stepped it up a gear,and testing our prep.His words were "if you not up to standard,you will be dismissed!".Bearing in mind us guys have 10 to 15 years service,with no previous performance issues.
He is wearing us down one by one.
