Re: RM contracts
Find out if it has actually run out. If it has and you are still working and being paid then RM are putting themselves in a dangerous position. In essence they are making you substantive?Flamunio wrote:I believe my conteact has run out with RM

It happened to me. First contract was 1 year , second 6 months. Nothing after that ; but still employed and paid. They had to make me perm after two years.
I would say happy days .. but the job has gone downhill so much

If you are getting paid.... keep turning up.

Re: RM contracts
its a rolling contract- so when your time is up- it just carries on... i panicked when mine wasnt renewed- but unless they fail you- you're still employed.

Believe it's up to 4 years in RM ... I've nearly hit three years "on the roll"RetroJunkie wrote: i'm still rolling 3 years down the line,is 2 years a set thing that they have to make you perm or did you just get lucky?

2 years.Dont expect them to make you perm automatically though because that won't happen.I told them I wanted to get a mortgage and they laughed at me because I was on a rolling contract so I explained that I had been there over 2 years and now needed to be perm and they finally sorted it took them a while to sort it and lots of pestering.

Re: RM contracts
How's it effect a 10 year service, regarding getting a few extra day's holiday pay a year?
for example, not being taken on permanent for the first 2 years, then taken on permanent. After another 8 years do you get a few more days holiday? or would you have to wait another 2 years on top?

Re: RM contracts
Interesting question motch. As these types of contracts are relatively recent, i.e. only been used widely in last few years, this probably hasn't been an issue as yet. The union may have some agreement in place from when the company originally started to use rolling contracts, but I don't know for a fact.motch wrote:How's it effect a 10 year service, regarding getting a few extra day's holiday pay a year?

I think that, if you have continuous service, even though it started on rolling contract, it should count as proper service from your Date Of Entry. I myself started as a Xmas casual, but my serv ice length counts from the date I started that, not from when I was given a permanent contract.
However, I would not put it passed RM, nor would it surprise me, if they tried at some point to make your service count only from the date of issue of your permanent contract. It's they way they are going with T's & C's at the moment.
Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a Rep.

All periods of service on a temporary or permanent contract (with periods of casual service included only if they run continuously into a temporary or permanent contract), except for those on unpaid leave, SPPR, or with HM Forces exceeding 15 days, will count towards calculating leave due. Previous periods of PO service may be counted for this purpose.
