Buydowns??

Is there anyone on here working in delivery (not an M.C.) actually received a buydown lump sum payout for reducing their hours in the last 18 months or so?

3 people in our D.O. received buydown payouts about 2 years ago, since then another 3 people have reduced their hours voluntarily (at times when hours have needed to be cut from the office) but haven't received any form of payout for doing so.

I'm not after any specific figures from anyone who has reduced their hours, just a yes or no as to whether you got a payout or not? Thanks

Buydown is calculated using the same terms as VR pro-rata on the number of hours you are "selling" so in the case above if they were moving from 40 hrs down to 30 hrs they would receive 25% of their total redundancy entitlement.

Obviously you have to be careful about selling your hours because unless you can increase them again your pension will be affected and any future possible redundancy payment will be based on your reduced hours.

I would imagine offices who haven't had a revision it would still be on the cards depending on what comes out on hours required.

What about an office thats had their revision, but with royal mail wanting more P/T it seems, and trying to lose hours from offices would they go for a 39h to a 30/25h buy down?

How long is it since your revision? I would imagine if it has been a while the hours would have been reconciled on the revision or it wouldn't have been accepted.

Thing is i'd be looking to do less days, 5 to 4days, or even possibly 5 to 3days, rather than less hours each day.

Well I would suggest you take a look at your office and see if there is a niche which would benefit your office and present it to your DOM and see if there's a chance - however a word of caution don't ask around or you may start a stampede to hijack your plan

We've a few people who do P/T job share. 3 days on 3 days off.......they did'nt get a buy down though.
