Has anyone got an update on todays talks as there is rumours going about that a deal has been struck

if there is a deal it needs to be concrete no more callin off strikes and things like that
i think we need to strike more just to remind the two muppets that we wont back down ,if they leave off some of there plans to solve the dispute now you can bet your last pound whatever they leave off it will crop back up within 12 months and they will try again

if there is a deal on the table it will only be there until the strike is called of and then do a fairy gold impression and vanish in daylight,if it aint signed and sealed and voted on we have to keep striking

i find it hard to believe having read RM's final offer - which they threw at the PEC just days after they said they would agree to negotiate with the Union, that RM have conceded any of their conditions to which we are going out for this week.

surely it would take for all the dismatling proposals to be totally removed before the Union would even agree to think of calling off the IA - well i hope so anyways hehe

our regional rep yesterday said he'd be strongly putting his 2 pennies worth in if the PEC even considered to have a second peroid of calm - that would be suicidal.

Unless, and only unless, a concrete deal is on the table, one that is totally acceptable to the membership, then the strikes should be called off. If it's
just more time wasting on Leighton & Crozier's part, an obvious bid to buy time, time in which the clowns at Westminster can conduct their ludicrous,
repetitive, and deeply, deeply, insulting to people's intelligence, campaigns, then the union's answer has to be, bollox.

We've already been made to look foolish, let's not add the trappings of a clown to the equasion.

IF IT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH THIS TIME WE HAVE ALL GOT TO JUST VOTE IT OUT TELL PEC WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING IT.
THEY WILL HAVE TO TELL RM THEN THAT THE WORKERS HAVE SAID GET STUFFED.

The bottom line is that PM Brown wants a November election. Can't have one if he can't get polling cards and postal votes out.
We must still strike this weekend even if a deal has been brokered as WE, the membership, have to ballot and it will show RM we will NEVER be pushed around

To be honest I think they are fighting over the wording that makes it look like there has been a compromise whilst conceding RMs demands. You know the sort of thing "local agreement", "shared bonus", "agreed flexibility", "timeshare work practices" - it will be gobbledy gook and recommended. The silence is deafening!

Buy the vaseline in large tubs.

Just checked Press Association Web site and there is no news on it.

Do you think that this could be just another ploy by Royal Mail to disrupt plans for the weekend action?

Until we see something official I would just keep planning the picket lines.

For what it's worth, if CWU take even one step backward on pay and conditions I am off. It's not the role of the union to manage our decline back to feudalism, they won't do it ,but we must all stand strong.

Sorry but that is not true.
There will never be any kind of deal over RM's offer full stop.
The talks continued today after the briefing but if i was a betting man i would say there is no chance of any kind of deal that would stop the strikes.
As for the silence being deafening well at 12.00 on Thursday it will be in each and every sorting office mail centre distrubution centre and any other centre where the strike will start. Unity is strength support the strike support YOUR union or swallow s**t take your pick.

Its not the voting for or against whatever proposal is put forward it's the suspension of IA that is fcukin up our position.
