My friend is quitting royal mail

My friend has been with royal mail for a about a month. And I think he has been doing really good. Going out on time (around 9am) and finishing on time (between 1-2pm). He is on a van share round. Mind you his van share partner started at the same time has him. They both get on.

He passed the driving.
He's got his own round.
Person he's working with is also great guy I think.

His previous job was in a supermarket ( I think tesco or asda)

On the day I found out. The next day I had chat with him in the morning in the office. He said I found a better job and better pay ( I think he's lying)
He said I gave my resign in and he will finsh with royal mail in 2 weeks time.
Then I tryed my best to convince him to stay but he said You can't change my mind.

I really thought he liked the job.
He was doing so well in my eyes.

Not sure there has to be a point - people can just sound off it they want, or perhaps he is looking for some insight from experienced posties.

My insight would be 2 weeks notice - thats unusual the contract states 1 week notice.

He doesn't have to give any notice after only being with RM for 1 month. He won't have accrued any holiday entitlement, plus he would have been on the standard 6 week trial period, so he wouldn't have a contract.

Hopefully he has found something better, maybe it just wasnt for him.
