That's all we seemed to do today, households and stuff from Go Outdoors. If we didn't have the latter we'd have gone to one house in five.

It's really telling how year upon year we are just handling absolute shite.

I'd love to do a delivery with just stuff that people want on just to see how proper mail really has gone down.

Not missed anything,posting pointless shite pays for my kid to go to Uni so hopefully he doesn't have to post pointless shite.

ah the Go Outdoors shite which proudly announced that all their online orders would be dispached by UKMail - but failed to mention that most of it will be dumped on RM to actually deliver

That mail,d2d does have integrity because it provides the sales for companies to survive and employ other people who might otherwise be out of work. It might look like a pile of shite to you in it,s paper form but you should look beyond that.

I am completely lost for words - well obviously not true.

Do people really think mail different types of mail have different levels of integrity - does that mean they less you pay for it the less care we should take over it - are you in essence agreeing with the meat sellers who use horse meat in processed meat are not doing anything really wrong because its for cheap burgers.

Somebody somewhere has paid for these items to be delivered even if its a faceless multi-national it should be treated the same as Aunt Bessies Birthday card. At least with the faceless multi-national we can rely on a steady stream of income to pay our wages.

I was taught a salutatory lesson a few years back. The local bingo place was sending "pointless shite" out nearly everyday to the same people on my delivery it seemed to go for weeks. One day a middle aged lady came out and saw me as I was delivering and asked what had she got, I replied some junk from the Bingo - she replied - Oh good I am saving them for Saturday. It was junk to me - but it wasn't to her.

It might be useless junk mail to us, but I suggest that having such a mindset is dangerous - just look at the news items about posties being done for dumping "junk mail" because they thought it wasn't important. Or the ones that can't finish and store the junk mail fully intending to deliver it later but never can.


I think, and hope that most posties don't really have the mindset that advertising mail is "shite", but that the real problem is that it gets to the Delivery offices in one go and has to be delivered that day. Now if the companies sending it - or perhaps its the MCs, planned a phased release of bulk mailing so that the carpet bombing of an area was spread over a week instead of a day - it would less frustrating and more efficient. But even that would have consequences.

So if MCs sent out 1 d2d item out each day, meaning that every DO had to prep a d2d for every delivery point every day, would that be better for DOs. MCs have no control over when d2ds are released

Less d2d = less revenue for RM = less jobs (and probably bigger walks as well)

Umm no D2D isn't bulk mailing. Bulk mailing is addressed mail.

Also if we had to D2D to every house every day it would have to be a planned 100% call rate at the moment its planned at around 80-85% - the rounds would shrink. Unless of course D2Ds went completely, then the duties would grow by about 10% would be my guess.

I am one of the strange posties that see D2Ds as a good idea in principle for the business, but accept that RMs systems (operational, quality control, managerial) and agreements could be a lot better than they actually are.

I'd like to see a leaflet dropper get paid what we do with paid breaks etc etc etc etc etc.... if you are right then call me a leaflet dropper or what ever else comes to mind, as long as the man is paying.....i'll deliver what and where he likes.
