yet another absoption

so last week we were absorbing 3 walks, so last week someone handed in their notice and from this week onward we are absorbing 4 walks whilst being 4 members of staff down due to people leaving or being sacked.

DIM says we can't have anyone else until we have had our revision, but that could still be ages away.

how bloody hard can it be to sort a revision when we are a relatively small office of approx 30 walks!!!

we have had numerous planners in, including in 2010 and 2011 but both left with stress and the job did'nt get done.

1st,,,ive shouted it out loads of times,,,,it seems with the royal mail if you turn into work your treated like scum from above....
stay off,,,go sick or whatever and them that are left in the office are the ones to cop for it.

on the part you say about more staff,,,weve been understaffed for a long time,,,and now possibly finally about to go into an outdoor revision weve took about 10 staff on since oct ,,nov time,,,feel sorry for them cos the union in meetings with us say that after revision they could find positions in other offices for the postmen.

This is exactly right. You can only do what you can up until your finish time.

Your rep should be making sure at the resourcing meetings with the DOM that you have sufficient cover in place for walks that have no cover. As said before, if you do not have the time to lapse then you dont do it unless you want the overtime. Go back to the rep and ask him what is happening in the resourcing meetings to cover these vacant walks.
