Time to call it quits?

Post by RoyalSlave69 »

I work with a van share round. Two guys and one van. Problem is I can no longer work with my partner. I would call him a subtle bully. It's getting really bad and getting me down. Others who have worked with him also have big problems with his ways. I don't want to quit but I have reached my end.

What are my options? transfer? quit? understanding manager who will split the round?

You don't have to put up with bullying, if he's a bully to you chances are he did it to other people in your office, and they may have complained so speak to the manager but there's also a number on the back of the wage slip. Keep notes of everything.

First port of call is to talk to your manager in confidence and basically state that you point blank refuse to work with him. Let the manager decide what to do.

Don't do this. It makes you look in the wrong.

Go to your manager. Tell him what the partner is saying and say it really gets you down. Ask him for a solution. It may be a case of the manager just having a word with the other person, who might see it as just banter and will stop immediately.

If after you have done this then escalate onto refusing to work with him/call the help line.

Really feel for you.

Before P&L , if someone was the way you have described your partner, you only had to put up with it until you left the office and then you were on your own. Now there's no escape and it must be a nightmare.

As has been said, see your DOM in confidence and explain the situation. If he is unwiling/unable to offer a solution, ask to go on a floating duty, at least you'll still have a job and your sanity!

Funny how the Courier always shows P&L partners all smiles and rosy isn't it?

I've had this problem too. I first spoke to my union rep and then my dom. Made it clear that I couldn't work with the guy and was put on a reserve duty. If you have a personality clash with your van share then you have to take action, as the situation will only get worse.

You could just talk to the bloke !

Question what he is saying to you and ask for clarification.

He might not be trying to bully, he may just be a d**k.

if hes trying to bully you to speed up, do everything by the book, use a trolley and take a full 40 minutes meal relief before you go out .
Get him back like that and he may change his ways or he might move to another round.
But write everything down , dates and times when he bullies.
Or get a pair of earphones and block him out
