Surplus D2D'S

Surprised nobody else has posted on this today, but there's been an email to DOM's that the mail centre's will no longer receive surplus D2D'S from immediate effect because the surplus of D2D'S is over the agreed 1% limit.

Our DOM has already had a knee jerk reaction and has said from Monday we have to prep every D2D to see what surplus we have. Obviously this is not on. This could also be an ongoing situation.

Apparently there will be further details issued on Monday. I do believe the CWU are on to it, but I hope they get things sorted before Monday, although things could get interesting if they don't.

hmmmm, I wonder if that's why Dom was still at the office when we got back throwing EVERYONE'S D2D's in for Monday.

here's hoping he can be arsed to do it everyday.

In the main it's because someone isn't delivering them,simple answer but sadly true.
If your A+ is up to date you should only be a couple out either way due to the fact they are weight counted.
There might be the odd exception but very rarely.
I'm afraid some of our colleagues ain't too bright and it will catch up with them one day.

If I have 5 d2ds you can guarantee that a couple of them will be short, so I am unable to complete the bottom row of the right hand column of the frame. Have reported shortages on countless occasions and nothing done, so don,t bother any more.

I have a surplus cause the cover guy doesn't deliver them to empty houses and misses a street off.

It's bollocks, even if the A Plus is accurate then it really depends on the correct amounts being sent in............last week one of my contracts was at least 5 over per bundle (and the was 4 bundles) which puts it well over the mythical 1%. Until they sort that out then the can just deal with all the returns.

we have been told that from now on any surplus door to doors have to be taken to the dom on saturdays with an explanation. how people like myself on cover duties will go on if there are surplus should be interesting.

Some weeks my D2D's grow during the week ; despite me doing my daily allocation.

Mind you it might be people dumping theirs under my bench. One even left the walk number on once. No action was taken.

That happens all the time in our hole,I think thats the reason some people come in early.

Today some 30000 "surplus" d2d items were being randomly prepped into my offices 100 delivery frames.

I asked my Lino for an explanation and he suggested he got the director down who would then sack people

I explained this was fraud, but he wasn't interested!

Any ideas?

Doms brainwave is to prep a row a day but I pointed out that georoute doesn't allow the time to do this and it allows for a sixth a day.

It appears that RM are concerned about the amount of D2D`s that are being returned to the mail centres (i.e. undelivered)
and are going to audit delivery offices. I believe the outcome will be a crackdown on individuals recording what d2d they deliver each day
and an accurate count at the end of the week what each delivery has surplus. The main problem in my DO is the excess sent to each walk.
They are weighed to give a count, which is totally inaccurate when the d2d`s are really light and flimsy.The heavier the d2d the more accurate the count.
Be prepared to be audited tho.

When it's a heavy D2D week the surplus is huge because managers can't get the D2D's prepped in time for the overtime and delivery only part timers. They are usually happy to 'not manage' this situation as long as the walk is covered. They will use the mail centre as a graveyard for unwanted D2D's instead of excepting how long it really takes to prep a load of D2D's and have to change the IWT.

Of course the annoying bit is (and it hapens in my office) is that Managers , DOMs are effing prepping walks!!! And they are crap at it.

In my eyes it should not happen.
