Yes. If someone fancies a break they volunteer for it. They then spend a week standing about, talking, cutting up cardboard boxes, sticking posters on a wall and get Saturdays off.

WCM is a little like studying for a useless degree course e.g. Philosophy (It’s a fun-time four years, open to stoners, egocentrics and those that love the sound of their own voice, who will finish the course even more confused at what they want to do in life and probably end up working at a convenience store.)

... looks and sounds almost worthwhile (when you've heard the RM spin) but in the real world it's just a money pit with very few tangible benefits at the end, aside of course from giving some SB??s a lucrative living + bonuses (and company cars in some cases).

I know from my contact with a supplier of bespoke equipment to RM (sorting frames/bag opening table etc) that the WCM process is not held in particularly high regard. The company in question cannot comprehend why WCM teams from all over the country are allowed to specify their own solutions to the same processes ... when one 'best practise' solution should be chosen centrally and rolled out nationally. Added to this there seems to be an almost total lack of understanding from RM's side when it comes to the design/development of equipment, causing late alterations to specifications and costly re-working. RM's processes are pretty much universal throughout the country so you would have thought specifying equipment to facilitate those processes would be fundamental ... clearly not.

I liked the one where they opened up the back of the IPS frames so that the sorted mail could be taken out without disturbing those throwing it off, what happened to these machines costing millions that were supposed to sort all the mail into walk sequence, we've seen no drop in IPS mail since mail centres were "Modernised"

We have it in our office and it,s made no difference,same problems and same old bullsh*t going around and around.Jobs for the boys and any dims who should have been paid off seeing as the business is skint trying to reduce spend in office but we end up with cartoon characters on cardboard wtf..someone trying to tell me not to read mail when walking and same old guff....not worth it and this business is not a one size fits all so WCM will be different in other offices

Yeah these work amazingly well in our office. Because there is no room in the office, the backs of the frames are blocked by yorks, or any other rubbish laying around, so we have had to resort to emptying them from the front again. Oh, and they hold far less mail, and are used to hold flats and letters, making things even more convenient.
