In our office were still booking holidays for 2013/14. its looking like their won't be enough weeks for everyone to put their holidays down due to managment closing weeks off. so today were told wr will av to starburst or absorb in the summer so we can open up more weeks.( surely this can't be wright so i av to take extra to get my holiday ?) i'm told by a union guy that they shouldn't be absorbing is this was done away with. anyone with any idea's please post

We had to vote on it last summer, they tried to get us to agree to three off in each week ( we are a small office) but we rejected it and stuck to two off max in any single week.
I was under the impression that the absorption for leave went out with the 2010 agreement, the same as for sickness, one day of lapsing, then they have to get cover in from other offices, don't quote me on this the memory is a bit hazy

What is it with this holiday bollox,how many staff at the office and how many leave slots per week...
The formula should be...
The amount of peeps you have x 6 weeks (which is the max amount of holiday each person 'could' be entitled to) divided by 49 or 50 weeks,which is 52 weeks minus the xmas pressure weeks.
Obviously not every one will be entitled to 6 weeks so there should be spare weeks available.

I thought the whole idea of the new agreement was meant to be more holidays in the summer not less?
