favouritism

Post by nothappy »

hi all just after some advice, basiclly there is certain people in our section at work who have been employed by royal mail for about 5 years.these people are flavour of the month and seem to get overtime above everybody else, its been brought up on numerous occasions with managers and union, and has been happening for some years now.there was suppose to be a rotar for sharing the overtime which lasted a day or two.these people are getting to start at 5am everyday no matter what and any other person wishing to do overtime is expected to work over to say 4pm to get overtime, theses people are working everday of there annual leave everyday of there rota weeks and it is really getting to everyone, they seem to be untouchable and are classed as SUPER SORTERS,iv seen them be allowed to work annual leave and basicly walk around doing nothing at work,iv been there alot longer than them and wanted to work my day of,to which i was told the office was overstaffed which is fair if we were,i later found out one of the said people is working either there rota week or annual leave covering my day of??????? im not happy at all and think this is favouritism and basicly taking the micky, this needs to stop and be done fairly,we all have morgages and bills and kids, any advice apreciated

Its in the little handbook we got a few months back about RM code of conduct.
That this wrong & shouldnt happen, given as an example of bad management.
But moaning on here or wanting others to do something wont change anything.
Its up to you if you feel so strongly & you have been given a idea already which doesnt involve you going to your manager directly.
This ain't no baseball game, you get only one chance and you blew it.

I always thought it was a no no having a husband and wife in the same office, especially in the roles described.

You could even try a "petition". One of you could write a letter outlining the issue(s), how you've already tried to get it resolved, be polite, use formal language, and offer your colleagues the chance to sign it. Run it past your colleagues first, keep it under the radar, if enough do agree and sign it, it would be a lot harder for any comeback to hit one person, but you need to trust your workmates, and need to stick together. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
