wilfull delay of mail

went out on delivery on a saturday and accidently left about 20 calls in frame which were the last calls on my duty and as my round is a rural round it was about 20 minutes to drive back to the office from my finish point on the round and by the time i got back to the office i had done my hours and more and was no phg in office to tell and did not have time to go back out and deliver this last bit of mail but going in to work on the monday was suspended from delivery and told this was wilfull delay of mail but it was not just a mistake on my part that i forgot to take this last bit of mail out the frame a stupid mistake i know but not intentional one any advice

if you are in the Union get your rep onto it and if you don't think he is upto the job get your area rep onto it.

if not in the union, just tell them that you had other things on your mind and you just plainly forgot the mail you left behind.

If you didn't mean to do it, it isn't wilful delay but unexcused delay.
Getting them to believe that would depend on 2 main factors:
1. Do you have a history of doing this sort of thing? Do you have a clean conduct record?
2. Do you appear genuinely sorry for the mistake you made and will they believe you will not make the same mistake again.

I had similar thrown at me, they're hot on this at the mo, it looks to me as if they are trying anything they can to reduce the headcount. I was precautionary suspended for a very stressful week, and with the help of a senior CWU rep was immediately reinstated.
I was then off sick with my nerves for several weeks.
These people aren't human any more, the managers have to show results to justify their newly increased bonuses, and keep the Som's off their backs.
We are all human everyone makes an odd mistake,that's human nature, the managers will never own up to that 'cos they ain't human.
This was a genuine mistake fight it as such with a good rep and you should be OK.

i am on a 2 year serious warning for driving accident which is over in the summer but not sure they can count that against this as it is a totally different matter

when i say did not have time to go back out and deliver mail i mean i had done my contracted hours and by going back out would have been over i realise this was my fault for forgetting the mail in the first place but is this really wilfull delay of mail or just a simple mistake anyone could make at the end of the day and on returning from my duty was no manager in office as he never works saturdays and phg had gone out to help someone else to deliver parcels so could not tell anyone about this.and as for on a day to day basis our manager comes in after everyone else and has gone home by the time you return to the office and never seen on a saturday and also never get breifed on any team meetings that take place so never have any idea what is going on so wasa not even in the office when offence of allegedly wilfull delay of mail took place.

no our manager comes in after our shift has started and leaves before everyone has come back and never comes in on saturdays because if he was in the office doing his job he may then of noticed i had mail in the frame and could have rang me and not then left it to when i arrived back at the depot
